About
Bio/Description

Yunpo studies the anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (e.g., methane and nitrous oxide) using an interdisciplinary approach combining geoscience, data science, and material science. He obtained his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he worked on evaluating, predicting, and monitoring methane emissions from oil and gas development. Particularly, He quantified and characterized methane dissolved in groundwater using analytical chemistry tools. He also predicted oil and gas well integrity failures that lead to fugitive methane emissions. At Princeton, Yunpo is transferring his expertise to measuring the emissions of methane and other climate-relevant gas species (e.g., nitrous oxide and ammonia) from diverse sources such as agriculture and waste management. As a starting point, he is working on the vehicle-based sensing system.
