Ryan J Boyd
Ryan joined the group in 2023 from the University of Washington where he got a B.S. in Atmospheric Science (climate and chemistry) and studied methane plumes with satellite imagery. His research interests include studying atmospheric chemistry and ways in-situ instrumentation can be used to solve problems with air pollution and climate change. He is also interested in the policy applications of the group's work, including implications for national emission inventories and the hydrogen economy.
His work in the Zondlo group thus far has involved using the OPALS instrument to quantity ammonia concentrations over east Asia as part of the NASA ASIA-AQ campaign. He is analyzing that data to understand the limiting factors of ammonium nitrate formation in East Asia. Outside of research, he enjoys soccer, hiking, biking, and video games.
